You are God's will

I read this devotional at work this afternoon and it warmed my heart and made me grin like a toddler. It’s so comforting, especially for those of us who are transitioning in life, to know that we are God’s will. What does it mean to be God’s will? It means that you are walking in tandem with God, so His thoughts are now your thoughts and His ways have become your way. It means that you don’t sweat any thing. You simply do as your heart leads, because you know that all you have in your heart has been put there by God.

This is very counterintuitive, but that's the point of the Holy Spirit living in us. He has come to leave the law of God on our hearts so that we know it from the depths of our being.

When we attain such friendship with God, we get into contact with Him that makes us pray without ceasing and listen to His heartbeat at all times.

“To be so much in contact with God that you never need to ask Him to show you His will, is to be nearing the final stage of your discipline in the life of faith. When you are rightly related to God, it is a life of freedom and liberty and delight, you are God’s will, and all your common sense decisions are His will for you unless He checks.

"You decide things in perfect delightful friendship with God, knowing that if your decisions are wrong He will always check; when He checks, stop at once.”

Wouldn’t it be exciting to live so close to God that this becomes your reality? You stop when God says to stop, and you go when He says to go.

One big secret of living in victory is obeying God completely. When we try to make human sense of the instructions that come from God, we fall right flat on our faces because He never makes intellectual sense. We have to leave space for the supernatural, which operates in a realm that we cannot understand.

Then prayer becomes more about us understanding the mind of God and how He operates, than about making requests and getting answers. This leads to fullness of our spiritual lives.

Consider the widow in 2 Kings 4. She was married to one of the sons of Prophet Elisha and left in debt after her husband died. The debtor was coming to take her two sons into slavery, and when she cried to the Prophet and he asked her to gather large empty containers.

He then asked her to shut her door with herself and her sons and to pour a little oil from the one bottle she had left into each of the large containers.

The oil multiplied and he asked her to sell it and pay all her debts.

Consider, too, when Prophet Elisha threw a piece of wood into a river, when the axe head of one of his prophets fell into it. That tiny piece of wood caused the axe head, which is made of metal, to float. This was in 2 Kings 6.

Consider too that Jesus multiplied five loaves of bread and two fish into a meal that fed 5,000 men in Mark 6.

If you try to understand the ways of God, you will fail. You simply have to rest in Him.

That is a difficult lesson to learn, but you only have to rest in Him. Rely on Jesus. Lean on Him. The Holy Spirit will put you in tandem with God that your footsteps will become His footsteps.

You are God’s will. His spirit has been released to you. Surrender to Jesus today and you have the victory.
