For my chicken grandma
A lovely blog reader, the Chicken grandma, nominated me for this challenge, and because she’s always so sweet to me, I certainly have to take this one up, althoug I usually not goot at blog challenges. Anyway, I have to respond to three questions which she posed and pass this on to other bloggers.
I’ll answer the questions, but about passing it up to other bloggers… *scratcheshead*
How do you find your inspiration for a blog post?
I generally find inspiration from reading the scriptures. Because my blog is primarily about God, this is tricky. When I’m not doing great on reading the bible, I am more pressed for content. But when I’m reading my bible consistently, the content literally is tugging at my heart, waiting for me to blog. However, not reading my bible consistently does not always mean that I’m not spending time with God. Often, it's because I've been spending the days or weeks of listening to sermon, in prayer or focusing on worship. When this happens, some posts do come, but not as frequently as when I’m reading. Reading activates a special part of my brain and literally begs for a response.
When I do my creative posts such as poems or fiction, inspiration comes from the material I’m reading. When I’m reading a lot of poems, I’m inspired to write poems, and the same goes with fiction. Also, when I’m listening to a lot to music- on long bus or train rides, I’m also more inclined to write reflective and creative posts.
Basically, I garbage in and garbage out. My inspiration depends on the content I’m consuming!
What do you enjoy most about where you call home? Why?
Because I’m sitting on my bed in my college dorm room, I’ll call this place home. I’ve been out since 9am, and I only got back at 11pm. Long day, but that’s pretty much all my days this semester. This dorm room certainly didn’t feel like mine when I first moved in. Sure, it had my stuff, and was arranged as I liked it to be, but it just didn’t feel like mine. With the passage of time, I’ve begun to create memories here, and it’s felt more and more like mine over the past few weeks. I love how it’s quiet and peaceful, and how I function on my own schedule. No roommates to wake me up with loud singing, or to ask me to turn the lights off when they want to sleep. No need to leave my room when I want to pray or worship.
When I get back home after a long day in the outside world, this little haven welcomes me, and reminds me of the presence of God- because in here, I can pray as loudly and as long as I want.
Also, I can walk around without clothes, which I do a lot. :p
What is your favorite thing to do and with who (or is it whom)?
My favorite thing to do is spend time with myself. This is slightly ironic because I’m primarily extroverted and I love to be with people. However, because of my hobbies- reading, writing, sleeping - I have developed my introversion. I can stay in my room all day with my laptop, or with a good book. I talk to myself, make up stories, create characters, and sing in front of my mirror! I also love to pamper myself with a good bath, body massage, facial treatment, or I'll just do my nails!
However, my all time favorite activity is spending time with God. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to just lay on my face and worship because everything is happening so fast around me. But because of how much my time with God means to me, I’m willing to sleep an hour later, or miss out on an activity to pray, read my bible, or listen to a sermon. Those moments stolen with the Lord literally mean everything to me!
That’s it! Enjoy the rest of your week.
Finally, Chicken grandma, thank you so, so much for all your love and support of my blog! I love your comments because they’re always so warm and they make me smile! May God bless you and give you joy and peace.
